weekends

Coronado 09'

Ah weekends.  They sure are great aren't they?  But I didn't do much.  Due to lack of friends (Karli in San Diego, Emily at Utah State and everyone else on missions) I basically wandered around the house and ate.

Today was nice though.  My mom and I went for a drive up to Holladay where she showed me her old stomping grounds, shortcuts through neighbors yards, and hangout joints.  I also baked Black-Bottom cupcakes  and told Emily about them.  For some reason she thought that was hilarious.

Now I am watching Miss America.  Why?  I don't know, it's the worst.

Tomorrow I plan on going to the single's ward (ugh) and then an early birthday dinner with the family.  Next weekend I'm headed to Arizona with Laura to visit Amy... much needed.

I also just decided this is officially the worst blog post ever. Who knows why I just told you everything I did/ plan on doing.

Happy Saturday

you can believe it

Lately every commercial about the upcoming 2010 Vancouver Olympics makes me cry.  I shouldn't be surprised, this is just like me.  However there is something about this commercial, no matter how many times I see it...

You watch it for yourself and tell me you don't cry. Bryan...

The Ranch

A lot of time was spent at our Grandparent's ranch in Idaho when we were younger.  It was the greatest.  In 1992 Amy fell in the fire.  My Dad told Laura to run and get ice but she tripped on a log and broke her arm.  That was awesome of them.  Unfortunately we don't have that footage.

Below are a few clips of the two returning from rafting with my dad.  I love how their life vests are too tight and my mom continues to ignore Amy's request to take hers off.  I cut down the footage... she asks my mom the same question about 20 times.  To be honest,  I don't think it ever came off.  I also love Amy's finger... typical soggy band aid finger.  So gross.

Next up:  Footage of me drinking Ginger-ale at one year old.  Will blow your mind.

No more snow

Looking through some of my pictures today I found this piece of work, drawn by the brother in law. I can't even remember why he drew this. Hilarious and disgusting.

I also couldn't help but browse through some summer pictures. I am longing for summer, or at least springtime... mid april would be ideal. Anytime other than winter.

amy

Amy left for Arizona today.  Apparently she is going to grad school.  I've been left in shambles.  I'll hang in there.  However, visits will have to be frequent in order to keep me sane.

This separation will be a rough one for me.  What ever Amy likes, I like.  Whatever Amy hates, I hate.  Over the past few years we have morphed into the same person.  I'm convinced that without her, my alternate personality is prone to like things such as motocross, red bull and flames.

Last night we watched a movie on t.v. called Phat Girlz, featuring Mo'Nique.  It's about two plus-sized ladies who meet the men of their dreams in unexpected ways.  Amy loves black comedies. We found it incredibly ridiculous... trying to describe it would not do it justice.  You must watch it for yourself.

A couple days ago I started a new semester in school, and this is what was left in my room when I woke up:

I have thousands of these kinds of notes.  I saved them all because they say some of the most hilarious things you could ever imagine.

Oh, Amy I miss you already!

traveling

Reading through my travel journal is something I love to do... mostly because I forget all the hilarious stuff that happens.  I usually end up sitting by some characters.

An excerpt from my trip to Europe with Emily and her family below:

June 16, 2008

After about a thousand card games and long waiting in the Phoenix airport, we finally boarded our plane for JFK.  Probably my favorite part of the flight was the fact that I was split up from Emily and placed strategically between a middle aged New Jersey man and Emily's cousin's Grandma who I immediately took a shine to, however she fell asleep before we even took off, and stayed asleep for the whole flight.

Flying makes me nauseous sometimes... to the point where I can't do much other than stare in one place, usually the seat in front of me.  I found myself counting the fabric squares until the New Jersey fellow to my right assumed I'd be willing to talk to him for the next 6 hours...

We chatted, and he asked my what my I pod was.  He told me he had never seen one of them before in his New Jersey accent.... are you kidding me? It's an I pod!  Luckily I was able to pretend to fall asleep for the next half hour... until he woke me up by poking my hand to inform me of how annoyed he was about the people who were constantly getting up to go to the bathroom and bumping his arm.  He kept yelling things out like "My puppy has a stronger bladder than these idiots."  And of course,  I had to go to the bathroom too... but forced myself to hold it in the rest of the flight to avoid any contention.  He was obviously upset.  He also kept offering me pretzels that were in one of those thin sacks you put your fruit in at the grocery store. ugh.  I kept saying no thank you but he refused to listen.  I finally said I would take one to which he responds... "You'll love em. They're real stale, but real good at the same time."  I didn't eat it.

The rest of the flight was filled with chat about his brother-in-law that he doesn't get along with, his Italian heritage, favorite movies and of course, New Jersey.

I think the best part about flying is sitting next to chatty strangers.  We all secretly love them.

Happy New Year

A Happy New Year to everyone!  It seems like this decade just flew by.  I always thought 2009 was an adorable year, but 2010 should be just as cute.

The past few days were spent with the family in midway sledding, skiing, ice skating, watching movies, playing games and eating... oh so much eating.  Turns out Amy has no problem dancing in public and we are all really good ice skaters.  We also discovered that if you keep my parents up past 9:00 they will be incredibly hilarious for you.  Spread Martinelli drinks around like cookies, gather round a table, make them play Apples to Apples and you will die happy.  I must say, I've got myself a pretty great family.  It was so fun to be with everyone!

Enjoy yourself a little rundown of our fun...
